Fun game at Penn Park on Saturday as Stadium Pizza and Irish Times met for the second time this season, following their earlier 1-1 draw at Palumbo. Would the larger pitch at Penn make a difference? At the start of the game, the sun made more of a difference than the pitch. Roberto showed good captain’s instincts by winning the right to the preferred side, which came good when Winston Bramwell fired a shot from around the top of the 18 which eluded IT’s keeper, who claimed to have lost it in the sun. Irish Times answered back off a header by Mark Vivitsky from Jake’s corner kick. IT’s next goal was from Ian Kane, who picked up a loose ball and fired it into the net from just inside the 18. IT pushed to extend its lead but Reggie in the Stadium goal pulled off some epic saves while his offense created chances through his brother Conrad, Abdou, Said and Roberto. IT was able to hold on and later added a third goal before halftime through Mark V. 3-1 at the half. Stadium came out with great urgency in the second half and worked their way back into the match through Roberto’s goal. SP continued to push for an equalizer, but the next and final goal of the game came from the Graffs (younger version), as Jacob absolutely laced a shot from about 25 yards out into the top corner off an assist from his sister Emma. Brought a tear to their dad’s eye, it did. Game ended 4-2. Thanks to Mike Dalton and Lance Geren for reffing.
