“Tuesday Night Under the Lights”

Solow came in off of a depleted defeat vs Stadium and again they showed up without their starting eleven. Stargazy was without a number players but for the first time in a while had adequate subs.

Stargazy came out putting the pressure on the extremely strong back three of the Immigrants. The wall (see what I did there) of Harry, Kessler, McNichol and KC has very few cracks. Fortunately for the Meatpies, Greg Katz was able to get on the scoreboard early putting Stargazy up 1-0.

Wanting to capitalize on the first goal of the game, Stargazy continued to put pressure in often coming in the form of a wild deep punt from Meeker looking to land it in the south box and finding a welcome tree root for a fortuitous bounce in front of Andy’s goal. Quick counters proved to help Stargazy find a second goal with a long throw to Steve ‘Mad Hatter’ Whisler working the way up the field. The Immigrants’ defense held strong and a ball came ricocheting out of a pile to the right cannon of Kim Maleck. Taking out a lot of frustration, she pelted the ball home putting Stargazy up 2-0.

Halftime.

Solow came out very strong and Stargazy’s keeper did all that he could to not only gift a goal but lose the confidence in his team with poor footwork, decision making and handling. Thankfully the Irish-Chinese connection of ChinHenry plus Kyle in the center were there to clean up a few messes.

Jim Regg made diagonal runs like Jim Regg of 2005 and looked spry and dangerous, disrupting the Stargazy defense.

The beautiful evening and lovely refereeing by Mark and Josh may have been the highlights (outside of Kim’s walloping goal) in a classic Palumbo (read, disgusting) game of soccer.
