Recap
Tuesday night lights featured defending champs Brauhaus vs. the Immigrants of Solow, Isbell & Palladino on Palumbo after an afternoon of rain. Chances were few and far between in the first half for either side, and it ended 0-0. For the first 15 minutes of the second half it looked like we might be heading for a 0-0 draw when a lightning bolt from the blue struck by rookie Noah Hallman from outside the 18 flew into the Brauhaus net to give the Immigrants the advantage. Brauhaus responded, and somehow Tim Wilson emerged from the shadows, roots, and SIP defense in the lower corner to fizz a low shot into the side netting, 1-1. Five minutes later, Immigrant captain Justin Meltzer flicked on a header to Ben Stover who one-timed an arcing shot into the far corner to put the Immigrants back in front. Brauhaus pressed forward to tie again, but then Justin, who had come close on a number of shots throughout the game, found his range, tucking one shot from the 18 into the lower corner and then two minutes later finding the lower corner on the other side of the goal from similar distance. He completed his hat trick from point blank range after Jim Reggiani whipped in a beautiful ball from the wing. So, 5-1 for the Immigrants, but we have to say that the scoreline flattered us, really was a close match, hard-fought but in good spirits.
Thanks to Mike & Ben for reffing.
