Recap
D&A and Stadium Pizza met for the first time this season on the first Saturday evening of fall. It was unseasonably warm and the heat really affected both sides. However, Stadium started with 9 on the field, making the match much more difficult for them than for D&A, with 2 subs.
In the first half, the numbers on D&A dictated the play and there were numerous chances from D&A. A company of goalkeepers in the Stadium Pizza goal did a good job of dealing with the multiple chances on goal in the first half. Ultimately, Shawn, Fabio and Everett (x2) scored for D&A in the first half. Much of the play came from shots within the 18 yard box after sustained pressure in Stadium’s box. Connor saved Stadium’s best chance from Roberto, who was one-on-one with Connor in goal. Connor came out and saved the shot partly inside the 18-yard box. It was 4-0 at half.
In the second half, Stadium picked up another and the game started back up 11 v. 10. Another goal came from M. Dalton early in the second half. A foul on Irving in the D&A box, however, led to a penalty kick. Roberto struck a powerful penalty straight and high, striking the underside of the crossbar and dropping in for a goal. Everett added another after the penalty, completing his hat trick, as well as M. Dalton on a tap in from a pass from Ian D. The game ended 7-1 on a hot evening. Thanks to Cullen, Dave R., and Josh for refereeing.
