Dalton & Associates vs Solow, Isbell & Palladino

Recap

Unseasonably warm and humid Saturday afternoon started with the SIP Immigrants taking on Dalton & Associates. SIP were nearly at full strength, Dalton & Assoc had a couple of subs. Only a couple of minutes into the game SIP captain Justin Meltzer was fouled in the penalty area and converted the spot kick for an early SIP lead. Only a few minutes later, after some nice SIP passing, Justin nipped into the box and stuck away his second and the Immigrants were off to a flying start. Dalton & Assoc settled down after the early setback and fought their way back into the game, and captain Michael Dalton rounded SIP keeper Andy Hallman who was caught out of position, but Harry Middleton cleared Dalton’s effort off the line to preserve the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Early in the second half a perfect feed from Justin found SIP forward Mark Comerota alone in front of goal, he settled with his left and slotted the ball home with his right past onrushing keeper Connor Dalton for a 3-0 lead. Not long after, on a free kick service from the right side of the Immigrants’ penalty area, Mike Dalton was held in the box. Second-half keeper Craig Comisar had earlier made a fantastic save to preserve the Immigrants’ advantage, but he couldn’t quite get to Mike’s well-placed PK, 3-1. Near the end of the game SIP’s Jim Reggiani’s wicked cross/shot from the right side brought Connor to his near post – he got his fingertips to it but couldn’t quite keep it out. Final result 4-1 in favor of the Immigrants.
Many thanks to Rich and Aaron for reffing.
