D&A and New Wave Cafe met on Sunday for the final game of the opening weekend of the 2018 season.  D&A scored first after some sustained pressure in the New Wave 18-yard box.  Dave McHenry won a foul on the edge of the left side of the 18-yard box.  The ensuing free kick from Dan Starr came back off the wall.  Dan played it back into the box and an unlucky bounce off a New Wave defender at the back post took the ball into the far corner.  The half ended 1-0.

The second half saw D&A’s second goal shortly after the restart.  D&A’s midfield played a low clearance from New Wave into Everett, who headed on the bouncing pass over New Wave’s keeper from about the edge of the 18-yard box.  2-0 D&A.  M. Dalton added a third on a ball forward from Miles on the left wing, taking the ball past the keeper to the left and slotting it in for D&A’s third.  3-0.

Lenny Hayes of New Wave had several chances on D&A’s goal throughout the game, including a called-off goal in the first half.  However, in the second half, he scored New Wave’s first goal of the BVFC season with a darting run from the right wing and a right-footed drive into the far corner past the oncoming D&A keeper.  3-1.  The game ended 3-1 after several chances from New Wave in the second half.

This was a well-played game on a beautiful Sunday to start the season for both teams.  Thanks to Ricky and Josh for calling a good game.
