Irish Times vs Solow, Isbell & Palladino

Recap

The 2018 BVFC season kicked off on a beautiful day at Penn Park as last year’s finalists — Irish Times and Solow Isbell & Palladino – met up.  SIP started with 12 players while IT had 11 (including 4 Graffs if you count Koffi).  SIP had the majority of the possession to begin the game, but could not convert that into any dangerous scoring changes.  IT scored first against the run of play, with Koffi using his young legs to speed past the SIP defense on a breakaway that he finished well.  IT clogged the middle, sending SIP down the wings, but they were unable to convert any of their attempts into goals.  Mark Vivitsky scored the second for IT and then Koffi got another before the end of the half.

By the second half, Justin had to leave for SIP, leaving them with 11 while Andres arrived for IT giving them 12 players.  IT got another goal to start the scoring in the second half through Mark Vivitsky.  SIP then came back with goals from Jimmy Reg and Greg Katz to make it 4-2.  As SIP pushed forward trying to equalize, IT was able to counter effectively.  Koffi and Mark each finished their hat tricks, while Ben pulled rank on Jake to take a PK Jake earned near the end of the game.  Ben’s first goal in several years made it 7-2 IT, which was the final.

Thanks to Marcus and Matt for reffing (and Dave for taking over for Matt with a few minutes left so he could warm up for the second game).
