Stargazy kept the pressure up but couldn’t seem to find the net, nor get many shots off in the first half. The Stargazy defense at the back played great positional defense and did the job of holding Abdou goalless (for now).

Mustafa showed up to put ten on the field for the Pizza Men.

0-0 at the half with a handful of stressful moments for both teams.

Stargazy made a small adjustment at half putting Captain McKenna up top and trying to put more pressure on the Stadium defense. A fortuitous bounce off of a throw by Kyle Custer resulted in an ‘own goal’ by Fisayo.

Ten minutes later Stadium quickly with a beautifully threaded through ball by Roberto to a streaking Maher. A quick touch and rifled shot past a helpless Meeker knotted the match up one a piece.

It didn’t take long for the Meat Pies to get one back with Dan Starr(gazy) assisting Brandon Pierce for his second goal of the season in the 70th minute. A huge scare for Stargazy happened just moments later with Captain Greg going down with a nasty knee injury (MRI results are not in) after slipping on the manicured pitch of Palumbo. Stadium looked to capitalize quickly and the see-saw battle continued with an infraction just five minutes later outside of the box and Abdou did ‘Abdou Things’ and curled a perfect free kick into the top corner…2-2.

Both teams were hungry for the 3 points and it was the second goal of the game for Brandon Pierce that finally ended the ping-pong scoring with Greg Katz assisting.

All in all it was a very well played game by two desperate teams and Stargazy was fortunate to come away with the victory.
