Solow, Isbell & Palladino vs Stadium Pizza

Second meeting of the year for SIP and Stadium.  SIP only had 9 for the entire game.  Stadium Pizza had 11 plus one sub.

The first half started with a quick goal from Pedro on 5 minutes.  The ball came to him on the right and low shot to the near post sneaked in under the SIP keeper.

Stadium largely controlled the first 20 minutes of the first half, and doubled their lead on 20 minutes.  Irving took a first time shot from outside the 18 as the ball was cleared out with the SIP keeper off the line.  A high, spinning shot ended in the back left corner of the goal.

The end of the second half saw SIP with 9 players make a tremendous push, resulting in a counter-attack goal from Matt.  A long ball from Tyler near mid-field was finished with a soft chip over the Stadium keeper near the left corner of the 18-yard box, finishing in the far corner.

The half ended 2-1.

The second half started as it finished, with both teams playing a rather even game despite Stadium’s advantage in numbers.  Several free kicks for both teams failed to result in any clear-cut goal opportunities, however.  After about 20 minutes of back and forth, Roberto scored Stadium’s third with a right-footed shot low into the corner from near the edge of the box.

At 3-1, SIP’s valiant effort became much more difficult and a fourth goal came from a Roberto pass to Fisayo, who put home a right-footed shot central into the SIP goal.

The game ended 4-1 to Stadium.

Stargazy vs Brauhaus Schmitz

Just another chapter in the friendly (at times – maybe not post-post match shenanigans) rivalry between Stargazy and Brauhaus. Both teams were down a few players on a perfect Saturday afternoon.

Not too much to write about here as the entire game was played in the midfield for much of it. Brauhaus had the opportunities in the first half. Stargazy appeared to be playing for the point.
A small tactical change by both teams brought out a different look to start the second half. Stargazy was attacking with more fluidity but with that opened up the midfield a bit too much allowing Puskás (Herczeg) to take space. JP and Timmy P found themselves with the ball but often closed down on quickly.
With roughly ten to play the counter was back on for the MeatPies and a driven cross found the foot of Dancing Kim to have the ball carom off of the post and run along the goal line. (Visions of the playoff no-goal call ran through the head of Meeker on the other end). Schoppe calmly grabbed the ball off of the goal line (as it did not go in) and proceeded to scream some schoppes at his defense.
Surely that was the moment which Stargazy sought and needed to capitalize on. Die Mannschaft came storming back down the field to again lose possession and Stargazy countered. This time Kim had the ball and sent in a beautiful cross to find the head of a waiting Brandon Pierce putting the ball into the back of the net. Only a couple short minutes remained and Brauhaus couldn’t connect up top as time ticked away.
1-0 final. It wasn’t pretty but Stargazy was content with the victory nonetheless. If anyone actually watched that game without ties to the players, we all apologize.
Thanks to the reffing trio of Matt, Craig and Mike.
